Below are some painted family trees and pedigree charts from our repertoire. The workload and thus the remuneration is mainly measured by the number of name plates and the preferred drawing technique. The size is usually adjusted to the size of the tree.
Small painted family trees & pedigree charts
We regularly receive inquiries for simple family trees or pedigree charts of three to four generations. Such trees usually contain 20-40 nameplates. These works are among the small projects. Small family trees and pedigree charts can be easily realized on drawing paper of 16.5″ x 23.4″ (approx. 42 x 60cm). A conversion to 11.7″ x 16.5″ (approx. 30 x 42cm) is also possible in some cases. A short-term production (up to two weeks) seems realistic.
Remuneration: starting at 300.-USD (Pencil) / starting at 450.-USD (Watercolor)
Small painted pedigree chart
This pencil drawing shows a small tree with 18 persons on paper (size: 11.7″ x 16.5″). The composition with its font-family and the special tree crown is significant for that pedigree chart. The picture corresponds to a concrete specification of the customer.
Small painted family trees
This is a small family tree, drawn with watercolors. Typical for this project are the elements that are drawn with ink (i.e. the tree trunk and the roots).
Special golden ink was used to visualize the coat of arms of this painting. The artwork was created as a new edition of a painted family tree which was developed several years ago. The size of the certificate paper corresponds to 16.5″ x 23.4″.
Small painted pedigree charts
On the left side there is a pencil drawing showing a pedigree with 24 name plates. The selected tree representation corresponds to a kind of „standard“ in the visualization of stem and treetop. It is a work on drawing paper of the size 16.5″ x 23.4″ (42.0 x 59.4 cm). On the right side there is a pedigree, which differs from the other trees in the miniature portrait drawings. Of course, these miniature portraits are very small and partly vague. A portrayal of faces is therefore only conditionally recommendable. It means a high overhead in the processing and is therefore always associated with a surcharge.
Small hand-drawn family trees
Here you can see two small family trees, drawn with the pencil technique. The records are very similar but they have two completely different visualization approaches. While the family coat of arms on the left tree is in the foreground, the focus of the right tree is on the classic visualization of the tree with the enclosed family grange. Both drawings are made on drawing paper of size 16.5″ x 23.4″ (42.0 x 59.4 cm).
Medium painted family trees & pedigree charts
A medium-sized project comprises about 40 to 70 name plates. Large pedigree charts can still consist of a few generations. A classic family tree with this scale usually looks back on a long family history. From a certain size/width onwards, it’s reasonable to work with the landscape format.
A classic pedigree chart usually grows faster in width than a family tree because the number of persons ideally doubles from generation to generation, if the research is done successfully. The time needed for such a project is about one month. Short-term realizations may be possible if discussed with the artist.
Remuneration: starting at 600.-USD (Pencil) / starting at 800.-USD (Watercolor)
Medium-sized drawn family trees
This is an example of a painted tree with 43 name plates in pencil technique. Side elements such as ornaments are omitted. Often the children of the main protagonists are also mentioned and placed next to the tribe. It is a classic medium-sized six-generation pedigree chart on drawing paper of size 16.5″ x 23.4″ (42.0 x 59.4 cm).
Medium-sized drawn pedigree charts
This is a pedigree chart in pencil technique with 48 plates on drawing paper of size 16.5″ x 23.4″ (42.0 x 59.4 cm). At the widest generation level, there are 16 people, so we recommended the landscape format to the customer. Remarkable for this artwork is an existing family coat of arms decorating the left side of the drawing. Single coats of arms are minor items that we can usually put on paper at no extra cost.
Medium-sized painted family tree
This is a colored family tree with 55 nameplates. It is a watercolor painting on cardboard of the size 16.5″ x 22.0″ (42.0 x 56.0 cm). The names were worked out with ink. The tree is kept very simple – side elements were not requested and are not desirable.
Medium-sized painted family tree
This is an example of a family tree with 56 name plates. The painting was made with watercolors on marmorated drawing paper (size: 19.7″ x 27.6″). As side elements, the customer chose the coat of arms of Cologne and a small church of his home village, surrounded by the local region.
Large painted family trees & pedigree charts
Family trees and pedigree charts with more than 100 name boards are associated with an enormous amount of work and are among the major projects. At least two months lead time should be scheduled here. Only in a few exceptional cases, a faster realization is possible –please always indicate the desired date in the inquiry. Such drawings and paintings require paper of the size 23.4″ x 33.1″ (59.4 x 84.0 cm) or even customized special formats.
Remuneration: starting at 1500.-USD (Pencil) / starting at 1800.-USD (Watercolor)
Large painted family trees
In this case, nearly 100 plates were visualized on document paper of the size 23.6″ x 35.4″. The watercolor technique is supported in the lettering by the use of ink. This is almost a classic family tree. The artwork is enriched to the left of the trunk by a painting of the client´s farmyard.
Large drawing of a family tree
Here you can see a classic family tree with about 120 name plates. This pencil drawing was realized on a large scaled drawing paper (23.4″ x 33.1″). It is a painted family tree with a lead time of 3-4 month.
Large drawing of a pedigree chart
This picture shows an untypical pedigree chart. The converted form was required because of the integration of siblings at multiple generation levels. Four individual trees, united in the crown, are representing the four main family lines. This project is a good example of how different the focus of visualisation can be. The client preferred to depict his entire family instead of settling on traditional genealogic rules.
Large drawing of a pedigree chart
This is a particularly large pedigree chart with nearly 200 name plates. The arrangement of the signs is circular in order to bring even the largest levels (with a total of about 50 people) evenly on paper. This pencil drawing was realized on drawing paper of the size 35.4″ x 23.4″ and corresponds almost to the standardized measure of 23.4″ x 33.1″. The most important reference locations of the two starting persons and their immediate relatives were selected as coats of arms and city panoramas
